What Does A Texas-Sized Show Entail?

A Hometown Show In Houston

The best things come from Texas and Beyoncé might be the world’s best example of it, so what can we expect from her two hometown performances in Houston?

Her last full solo tour, the Formation World Tour in 2016, started its run in Houston. The explosive opening night started with DJ Khalid and Houston rappers Slim Thug and Paul Wall before Beyoncé took the stage. During her performance, the artist took a moment to thank her hometown and the people in it.

This year’s tour will be at AT&T Stadium in Dallas on Sept. 21 and NRG Stadium on Sept. 23 and Sept. 24, and we think a lot of the love is going to come from the fans.

Initially, there was only one tour date set for Houston, but after incredible fan demand, a second night was added. Beyoncé’s love for her hometown and commitment to highlighting Black culture through her music, art, and partnerships continue to empower Houstonians and Black communities across the country. The two nights in the town that raised her are sure to be filled with energy, excitement, pride, and love for the singer and the city.

Could We Get An Appearance From Blue Ivy?

Beyoncé and husband Jay-Z’s oldest daughter, Blue Ivy Carter has been making headlines for her performances as a dancer front and center in her momma’s shows in Europe. Performing shoulder to shoulder with some of the world’s best professional dancers, the 11-year-old has shown that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree and that Queen Bey isn’t the only dynamic performer.

The question we all want to be answered is whether a Blue Ivy appearance is predicted in Texas. It’s summer vacay for Blue Ivy right now, probably why she’s been able to travel around with her mom, but all three Texas shows are in September which is, you guessed it, the start of the school year. Will Blue be at her desk studying by day and dancing by night? We will have to wait and see, but either way, we love her.

What To Wear at the Renaissance Tour

Beyoncé has proved she is going to show up and show out at every performance. Sporting custom-made designer looks and going through an insane amount of outfit changes in each show, the singer has been stunning in every city. So attending the Renaissance Tour requires proper attire- and by that we mean your outfits should be cute and comfortable.

Colorful, disco-style outfits featuring flared pants, jumpsuits, and two-piece sets are going to be all the rage, especially with iridescent fabrics, rhinestones, glitter, and silver. A lot of fans have also added jeweled cowgirl hats and we are so on board! And our best piece of advice- ditch the heels. The performance alone is nearly 3 hours long, so a good pair of comfortable platform sneakers will give you the height you want and look amazing with your outfit, and you’ll be so grateful the next morning.

When it comes to accessories, make sure to check stadium policies. Both AT&T Stadium in Dallas and NRG Stadium in Houston require clear bags no larger than 12”x6”x12” and clutches or smaller bags no larger than 4.5”x6.5”. And because this is going to be a large show, the less you bring the better, so opt for no bag if you’re able.

And remember, this tour is not only about Renaissance, all of Beyoncé’s albums are being celebrated. Channel what the Swifties have been doing for the Eras Tour and wear a look inspired by any of Beyoncé’s albums. The early 2000s are coming back, aren’t they?

Where to Go Before the Show

While Beyoncé doesn’t come on stage until 8 PM, the doors open around 5 PM and the show doesn’t end until almost midnight, so making sure your stomach is well prepared is going to be important. Luckily, Houston and Dallas have incredible options for pre-performance meals at any price point.

Whether you’re visiting for a few days to see the show or a local, we’ve got recommendations for brunch, rooftop restaurants, bars, and all kinds of cuisine in both Houston and Dallas:
