Giving Back with Hyundai for the Holidays
One of the highlights last year was partnering with Hyundai and getting to spend time with their Santa Cruz. We took y’all around in Santa Cruz to show off our favorite brunch spots in Austin. This year we are partnering up with Hyundai again to give back for the holidays!
Hyundai was generous enough to give us a brand new 2023 Palisade for the holidays and challenge us to spread the holiday joy. The choice was easy for us, we started out as a food blog and that part of what we do is still near and dear to us. We genuinely believe that no one should ever go hungry and so the choice to donate food to the Houston Food Bank was an easy one.
The Palisade
Where do we even start? Having the Palisade for a week was so much fun! On first glance the Palisade gives off a bold and futuristic vibe with its massive front grill and massive 20 inch wheels. There are five different trims and we got the XRT edition. They start at the SE, move onto SEL, a brand new trim called XRT, Limited, and at the high end is the Calligraphy.
Upon entering the vehicle, you are wrapped in luxury and the latest in technology. Some of our favorite features in our steel graphite Palisade were:
- Highway driving assist
- The comfy leatherette heated seats provide ultimate comfort and support through tight corners.
- Second-row captains chairs
- Wireless phone chargers
- Numerous safety features like attention warning, lane assist, and HD cameras
Add to all of that a 3.8L V6 that puts out 291 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque and you’ve got one fun-moving machine on your hands.
We loved the three-row seating, yet continued sporty look on the outside. The three-row, seven-seat, crossover SUV provides plenty of space for passengers and tons of cargo space, 18 cubic feet behind the third row. Lowering the third row improves that to 46 cubic feet. Lowering second provides 86 cubic feet of space. We needed all of that for the 300+ pounds of food we were about to buy!
Giving Back
There are so many wonderful causes to give back to year around. As a brand that has its roots in food, the thought of kids and families going to bed hungry is one we can’t bear.
The Houston Food Banks is America’s largest food bank in distribution leading hunger relief in 18 southeast Texas counties. Founded in 1982, the Houston Food Bank is a certified member of Feeding America, the nation’s food bank network, with a four-star rating from Charity Navigator. They distribute fresh produce, meat and nonperishables and prepare nutritious hot meals for kids.
We took a nice cruise in our 2023 Palisade to our favorite wholesale store and loaded up on everything from canned foods to paper plates and more. 337 pounds to be exact. Lowering both the second and third rows of seats gave us all the room we needed to haul the goodies over to the Houston Food Bank.
