Rolling Stone Future of Music Showcase Returns to SXSW

Rolling Stone is returning to South by Southwest for its third annual Future of Music showcase, presented by JBL. This exciting four-night concert series, which has quickly become a marquee event at the SXSW music festival, will take place from Tuesday, March 11 to Friday, March 14, 2025, at ACL Live at the Moody Theater in Austin, TX. The showcase will feature some of the most trailblazing and innovative artists shaping the future of music.

The Future of Music concert series aligns with Rolling Stone’s upcoming Future of Music print issue, set to hit newsstands in April. This showcase will highlight artists featured in the third annual Future 25 list, which celebrates the musicians that have Rolling Stone’s editorial team most excited about the future of music in 2025 and beyond.

Future of Music Concert Schedule

The Future of Music showcase is presented by JBL, a pioneer in audio innovation. At SXSW, JBL will debut its latest portable speakers—the Flip 7 and Charge 6. Fans are invited to visit JBL’s Sound Bodega, located next to the showcase at 3TEN, from 1-7 PM on Wednesday, March 12 and Thursday, March 13. The Sound Bodega will offer exclusive interviews with Future of Music artists, live performances, and the chance to experience JBL’s new products.

In addition to JBL, the Future of Music showcase is supported by several prestigious partners, including Rivian, iHeartMedia, Bardstown Bourbon, and Colossal.

Rivian and Rolling Stone are teaming up to celebrate the launch of the new exclusive California Dune Edition R1S and R1T. These limited-edition vehicles, inspired by the rolling sand dunes of Southern California, will be showcased at SXSW.

Colossal, known for its partnership with Rolling Stone and MusiCares, is continuing its support for emerging musicians with the America’s Next Top Hitmaker competition. Through this initiative, Colossal raised over $2.1 million for MusiCares. The winner of the competition, Duplexity, will kick off the Future of Music showcase on March 11.

Bardstown Bourbon, a leader in innovative American whiskey, will also be serving specialty cocktails at the event, adding to the exciting atmosphere.

Last year’s Future of Music showcase, also held at the Moody Theater, drew over 12,500 attendees across four nights and featured standout performances by artists like Teezo Touchdown, Peso Pluma, Flo Milli, and Faye Webster.

The Future of Music showcase is open to all SXSW badge holders and the public. Badge holders will receive priority admission, while the general public will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis. Gates open daily at 6:15 PM, with doors opening at 6:45 PM.
