Pieous Pizza Review

Pieous, a local Austin Pizza restaurant that serves an array of different foods, was opened in 2013 by Paige and Joshua Kaner. The original focus was pizza, but as time went on, they have expanded to pastries and pastrami. They relocated to Dripping Springs in 2018, looking for a larger space.

Pieous Pizza Menu

Pieous promises pizza, and they deliver on this promise. White pies with bacon marmalade, arugula, and gorgonzola; a meat lovers pizza titled ‘The Fat Queen Pizza’; and even a pesto based pizza. Rapini, eggplant, and brussel sprouts, all of these are offered as pizza toppings They make the most traditional of pizzas while still introducing their own Pieous twist.

Salads and Starters

As for the salads and their other starters, there are Cesar salads, charcuterie plates, a handcrafted Pieous sampler, and a meatball appetizer covered in marinara sauce and parmigiana. Their house-made mozzarella, topped with olive oil and surrounded by grape tomatoes and sourdough croutons, looks delicious.

Pastries and Desserts

Pieous also offers breakfast items. Their dark blueberry smoothie contains bananas, acai, almond butter, and a blend of protein, hemp, and flax. Pastries can also be purchased from Pieous. Pain au chocolates, croissants, and a couple of different rolls. Along with all of this, they make banana chocolate chip muffins and a chocolate pastry braid.

If you have a sweet tooth, Pieous can provide you with some of their desserts. Their cookies are wafer-thin, peppered with small chocolate chips. The cheesecakes are dense, the edges seemingly toasted. They even have their own tiramisu.

Conclusion

The grainy chalk walls of Pieous are cozy. The large pizza oven brings an added warmth to the room, figuratively and literally. It’s nice to have options to choose from, and it’s nice to see the effort that the Pieous team puts into the food.
