JABS Burgers and Fries Review

Tucked inside the Fareground food hall in downtown Austin, JABS is a burger spot that proves sometimes simple is best. With a tight menu of just burgers and fries, JABS doesn’t try to do too much, just what it does well. They proved their title as a top burger spot in Austin Monthly’s Burger Bash when they won the Judge’s and People’s Choice Awards!

The Menu

While the menu is simple, there are enough options to fit anyone’s burger preferences. Their OG burger is a double patty cheeseburger with pickles, grilled onions and JABS sauce, and their Classic burger has all the same toppings plus lettuce and tomato. For someone looking for a slightly smaller or larger portion, the Sissy burger has only one patty, while the K.O. has three. You also have the option to add grilled jalapenos to any of the burgers and, I have to say, they really pulled the flavors together, while it didn’t make the burger too spicy, they were a great addition to the meal. The last option on the menu is their seasoned fries which perfectly accompany the burger and come with a side of the JABS sauce. For drink options, they have bottled sodas and Topo Chicos, along with the option to grab a drink at the bar or another restaurant in the Fareground food hall.

The Experience

If you find yourself walking around downtown, the location of Fareground lends itself perfectly to fitting in with your day of shopping and exploring. If you’re lured in just by the burgers, you can drive from anywhere to come visit JABS by parking at the One Eleven Garage, after you park, you can take the elevator straight down to a tunnel that leads to the food hall. Make sure you take your receipt with you to get your parking validated as well!

Once you walk in, you’ll see that the setting adds to the appeal. Fareground is sleek and spacious, with indoor-outdoor seating, a central bar pouring drinks, and plenty of room to spread out. In addition to the food stalls, there are areas to browse snacks, drinks and other local goods, making it an ideal spot to grab a quick bite or settle in with friends.
