Hot Summer Nights 2025 Returns to Downtown Austin
Hot Summer Nights is heating up for 2025—and organizers from the Red River Cultural District have just revealed the official list of participating local music venues set to bring the free summer festival to life from July 24–26 in Downtown Austin.
Now entering its latest chapter, the beloved multi-genre festival will span nearly 20 venues across the city’s iconic Red River Cultural District. This year, the event welcomes several new additions to its official venue roster, including Kingdom, Marlow, and The Side Bar.
Fresh Faces Join Familiar Favorites
First-time participant Kingdom (505 E 7th St) joins the festival’s lineup as a cornerstone for dance and electronic music lovers. Known for its immersive sound and underground club energy, the venue is poised to deliver high-energy late-night sets all weekend.
Marlow (700 E 6th St), a sleek, locally-owned cocktail bar, returns to the festival as an official music venue after previously participating through food and beverage programming. Meanwhile, neighborhood favorite Side Bar (602 E 7th St), a longtime watering hole known for its no-frills vibes, will host a series of shows on Saturday, expanding the nightlife footprint of the event even further.
These new venues will join a slate of returning Red River institutions including Stubb’s, Mohawk, Flamingo Cantina, Empire Control Room & Garage, Swan Dive, The 13th Floor, and many more.
More Than Just Music
Beyond the concerts, Liberty Lunch will once again transform into a bustling vendor market in partnership with Future Front Texas, offering local makers and creatives a platform to showcase their work. At Waterloo Park, festivalgoers can look forward to all-ages morning and daytime activities, with more announcements on that front expected soon.
Feels So Good (FSG), a screen printing and embroidery shop recently relocated to the district at 609 E 7th St, will double as a creative community hub for the weekend. Drawing on its DIY Austin roots, FSG plans to host live performances and casual hangouts throughout the festival.
New Programming for Early Birds
This year, Hot Summer Nights will introduce early evening matinee shows on Saturday, July 26, at The 13th Floor and Chess Club. Kicking off around 6 p.m., these events offer fans a new way to experience the festival before the typical late-night surge.
A Summer Tradition with Local Impact
“Nothing says summer in Austin more than three days of live music, night markets, daytime programming, and pop-up activations in the Red River Cultural District,” said Nicole Klepadlo, Executive Director of the Red River Cultural District. “We are so excited to be growing the festival this year with a diversity of programming for all ages and more local business participation.”
Originally created to support local musicians and businesses during traditionally slow seasons, Hot Summer Nights (alongside sister festival Free Week each January) continues to provide paid gigs for artists while remaining admission-free for attendees. Behind the scenes, the Red River Cultural District nonprofit works closely with community partners and funders to keep it that way.
How to Get Involved
No tickets are required for entry, but fans are encouraged to RSVP to receive important updates. Those who RSVP and make a $5 micro-donation will also be entered into a giveaway to win a pair of exclusive Homie Badges, offering perks like expedited venue entry all weekend.
