Dainty Dillo – Austin’s New Favorite Hangout

Located right on the edge of the Colorado river, Dainty Dillo gives you everything you can possibly want: good views, booze, and food. They have spacious indoor and outdoor seating, with fans keeping you cool outside. Throughout the premises, there are various TVs, inside and out, as well as a larger one perfect for sporting events or their featured Bachelorette nights. The best part of the place was the stage for live music, making this the ultimate package destination.

Cocktails & Ambiance

Walking in, I was greeted with country music on the speakers and rustic decor, giving the ultimate Texas welcome. The ambiance is a mix of homey yet energetic which created such an inviting atmosphere. With intimate seating patterns and Thursday night football to bond over, this made the perfect social retreat.

For the food, Dainty Dillo offers a wide variety of appetizers and meals that are classic yet really compliment your drinks. Beginning with The Stoplight, this timeless combination of chips and dip gave the flavor combinations needed. With creamy, warm queso, a mild salsa, and fresh guacamole, these dips were perfect for dipping. I also tried the Fried Pickled Okra which came with a dipping sauce making it crispy, zesty, and addictive. It had equal parts of crunch and zest making it a unique combination. Finally, I indulged in the World Famous Jesus Nuggets, which was the highlight of the experience. The nuggets were breaded and tender, served with your choices of dipping sauce. These were perfect for sharing.

As for the drinks, they all had great flavor that was able to be appreciated. The Strawberry Limeade had subtle notes of the lime and berry flavor, but enough to conceal the alcohol taste. With the Espresso Martini, this was a frothy concoction of sweet with a hint of a bitter taste. It also had a cinnamon flavor to it making it a balance of different flavors. The Paloma my plus one ordered, had this fresh, fruity taste resembling grapefruit. The show stopper for the evening though was the house made Dillo Water. This creation has a cucumber limeade taste, giving a refreshing flavor that is perfect for hot days. Add this to your list of drinks to order at the Dainty Dillo.

Conclusion

Whether you want to sit on a bench, at the bar, or on a lounge chair right by the fireside, you are always going to have a good time at the Dainty Dillo. This place is the definition of Austin with its welcoming environment, beautiful view of the river, great drinks and food, and a place to watch live music and sports. The experience you get here truly embodies the culture of Austin so make sure to be ready for a memorable time at Dainy Dillo, a place that is more than just a bar.
