Stovetop Ramen noodles are a staple in every broke college kids diet. It’s a cheap meal that keeps hunger away when you’re on a budget or don’t have time to really cook something big. However, I’m about to show you a simple way for you to take your stove top ramen and turn it into something a little more concrete.
Ingredients:
- 4 Extra Large Eggs
- 4 Slices of Deli Ham
- Green Onion
- 1 Pack of Stovetop Ramen (pick your favorite flavor)
Optional Ingredients:
- 2 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 2 Tbsp Mirin
- Lime Juice
Prep Directions:
- Grab your four eggs and soft boil them. To do so, bring a pot of water to a boil. Place your eggs in and bring the heat down until it’s a steady simmer. Let them boil for about 7-8 minutes. Dunk them in an ice bath for about 3 minutes and carefully peel the shell off. Soft boiled eggs are very delicate and require some patience. Put them in the fridge once peeled so that they stay cold.
- Optional Step: Soak your eggs in a Soy Sauce and Mirin marinade for an hour (this can last longer, but if you’re in a rush then an hour should be fine)
- While your eggs are boiling, grab your green onion and chop the stalks. Set aside.
Cooking Directions:
- Take out a small pan and heat it up.
- Grab your four ham slices, and put them on the pan. You want to toast them but don’t char them or make them too crunchy. Flip with a small spatula or a fork to ensure both sides cook.
- Open your ramen package up and place the dry noodles in a bowl. Cover the noodles in water but don’t let the water go too far past them, and place them in the microwave for 3 minutes.
- Take your noodles out of the microwave (careful, they’re hot!) and stir in the flavor package it came with
- Optional: Add lime juice to taste here for extra flavor.
- Once that’s done, put your hot ham slices, your four eggs, and your green onion into the bowl.
- Enjoy!
