Stovetop Ramen noodles are a staple in every broke college kids diet. It’s a cheap meal that keeps hunger away when you’re on a budget or don’t have time to really cook something big. However, I’m about to show you a simple way for you to take your stove top ramen and turn it into something a little more concrete.

Ingredients:

  • 4 Extra Large Eggs
  • 4 Slices of Deli Ham
  • Green Onion
  • 1 Pack of Stovetop Ramen (pick your favorite flavor)

Optional Ingredients:

  • 2 Tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 2 Tbsp Mirin
  • Lime Juice

Prep Directions:

  1. Grab your four eggs and soft boil them. To do so, bring a pot of water to a boil. Place your eggs in and bring the heat down until it’s a steady simmer. Let them boil for about 7-8 minutes. Dunk them in an ice bath for about 3 minutes and carefully peel the shell off. Soft boiled eggs are very delicate and require some patience. Put them in the fridge once peeled so that they stay cold.
    1. Optional Step: Soak your eggs in a Soy Sauce and Mirin marinade for an hour (this can last longer, but if you’re in a rush then an hour should be fine)
  2. While your eggs are boiling, grab your green onion and chop the stalks. Set aside.

Cooking Directions:

  1. Take out a small pan and heat it up.
  2. Grab your four ham slices, and put them on the pan. You want to toast them but don’t char them or make them too crunchy. Flip with a small spatula or a fork to ensure both sides cook.
  3. Open your ramen package up and place the dry noodles in a bowl. Cover the noodles in water but don’t let the water go too far past them, and place them in the microwave for 3 minutes.
  4. Take your noodles out of the microwave (careful, they’re hot!) and stir in the flavor package it came with
    1. Optional: Add lime juice to taste here for extra flavor.
  5. Once that’s done, put your hot ham slices, your four eggs, and your green onion into the bowl.
  6. Enjoy!
