An Evening with the Branford Marsalis Quartet

Mark your calendars for a truly special event in Austin! On October 12, 2024, ATX Chamber Music and Jazz (ATX Music) presents An Evening with the Branford Marsalis Quartet at The Mansion. This extraordinary night will feature two intimate sets at 6:30 PM and 9:00 PM, transforming the venue into a vibrant New Orleans Jazz Club atmosphere.

Branford Marsalis is a name that resonates deeply in the world of jazz. As a member of “The First Family of New Orleans Jazz,” he has made significant contributions to the genre and American music overall. A three-time Grammy Award winner and National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master, his dynamic saxophone work and genre-defying compositions have captivated audiences worldwide. Plus, his accolades include a Tony nomination and a Primetime Emmy nomination for his work on the score for Tulsa Burning.

Geoffrey Herd, Co-Artistic Director of ATX Music, shares the excitement: “We’re thrilled to bring Branford Marsalis to Austin in partnership with Texas Performing Arts (TPA). His ability to connect with audiences is unparalleled, and this concert promises to be an extraordinary night of live music.”

Anna Petrova, also Co-Artistic Director of ATX Music, emphasizes the unique experience we can expect: “We’ve curated an evening that truly captures the essence of jazz. With Branford Marsalis at the helm, the night will transport our audience to another world—right here in the heart of Austin. This is a rare opportunity to witness Marsalis’ renowned quartet in a club-like atmosphere inspired by the jazz scene of New Orleans.”

As if the music wasn’t enough to draw you in, guests will also enjoy craft cocktails and lite bites throughout the evening. Imagine sipping a perfectly mixed drink while immersing yourself in the soulful sounds of one of jazz’s most celebrated musicians.
