Formula 1 Weekend Austin 2019
F1 weekend in Austin has quickly become one of the most popular events of the year. Good music, fan fest, and of course the fastest cars in the world make that no surprise. We checked out the Grand Prix this year and were impressed by what it has become.

The adventures started Friday with the day designated as open practice for the teams. We spent the afternoon scouting out the best turns to catch the race from (hint 15 is where it’s at). Of course no Austin event is complete without live music and F1 weekend is no exception. Racing fans were treated to Imagine Dragons and Pink over the weekend. We got the chance to catch Imagine Dragons on Friday night with 80,000 of our closest friends. Their 90 minute, 18 song performance included all of their catchy anthems and finished with “Radioactive” set to the sky lit with fireworks.

Saturday we decided to check out the off track festivities hosted by ESPN at Banger’s Sausage House & Beer Garden. The event featured live music, craft beer, games including slot car races and more. Of course there were plenty of screens to catch race qualifying on and college football. One of the biggest highlights of the afternoon was up-close access to an official Aston Martin Red Bull Formula 1 Car and Pixar’s life-size Lightning McQueen replica from the animated feature film Cars!

The day we had all ben waiting for – The United Stands Grand Prix came on Sunday. From the fighter jet flyover to pre-race energy to nail biting racing, it was what we expected and so much more. Thanks to our friends at Goodnight Loving Vodka, we got to see the race from the Circuit of the Americas Tower. The views were incredible on a sunny 72-degree fall day and watching cars pass each other up at 220+ mph isn’t something we’ll soon forget. Once we saw Lewis Hamilton win the Formula 1 2019 championship in ATX, we headed down to the championship ceremony. We now understand the hype around this week every year and we look forward to being back in 2020.
