El Tigre Opens New Location in Historic St. Paul Square

El Tigre is excited to announce the grand opening of its brand-new coffee shop and café in St. Paul Square, San Antonio’s vibrant, evolving downtown district. Officially open to the public on February 6, the location promises to be a welcome addition to a district brimming with history and culture.

A Historic Location with a Modern Twist

St. Paul Square, originally founded in 1778, is a multi-acre district steeped in San Antonio’s rich history. Nestled just 100 yards north of the Alamodome and within walking distance of the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, St. Paul Square is a growing hub for entertainment and cultural arts, making it the perfect backdrop for El Tigre’s new venture.

A Fresh Chapter for El Tigre

Located at 123 Heiman Street, at the corner of Heiman Street and Hoefgen Avenue, this new brick-and-mortar location marks a significant milestone for El Tigre, following the success of its flagship coffee shop in East Austin, which opened in 2019.

The soft opening hours for El Tigre at St. Paul Square will be from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. CT daily, inviting coffee lovers to indulge in a carefully curated menu of specialty drinks. Whether you’re craving a creamy latte, an energizing espresso, a rich cappuccino, or a refreshing cold brew, El Tigre has something to satisfy every coffee enthusiast. In addition to traditional coffee drinks, the menu features matchas, teas, mushroom cacao, and more.

The food menu is equally enticing, offering a variety of breakfast and lunch options, including breakfast sandwiches, avocado toast, and pastries in the morning. For lunch, patrons can choose from a selection of salads, bowls, and sandwiches. Be on the lookout, as the café will soon be rolling out an updated menu that promises even more delicious options.

A Commitment to Quality, Sustainability, and Community

As with its original location in Austin, El Tigre at St. Paul Square will continue to emphasize high-quality coffee sourced from all-natural, organic producers. The café will feature beans from renowned sustainable farms in Brazil and Honduras, ensuring that every cup is not only delicious but also ethically produced.

Local San Antonio resident and acclaimed restaurateur Tatanka Guerrero, known for his work through the independently-owned Dreamers and Doers Hospitality Group, will lead the new El Tigre location. Guerrero’s commitment to fostering local relationships while supporting international organic producers will be a cornerstone of this new café. His team will work closely with local artisans and vendors to contribute to the community while delivering the same exceptional quality and service that El Tigre is known for.

Tatanka Guerrero, who hails from Chile and is now a proud Texan, first gained national recognition with his restaurant Al Campo in Marfa. His diverse portfolio also includes successful projects in Miami and Los Angeles, as well as the recently opened cocktail bar Trona in Austin’s Eastside. Through Dreamers & Doers, Guerrero has built an impressive range of Texas concepts, including Cork & Screw wine shop and bar, Slowpoke Marfa tattoo shop, Camp East alfresco food court, and Arbor Food Park food truck court.
