Tokyo X Returns to Houston this September

Houston is getting ready to welcome one of Texas’ biggest celebrations of Japanese culture. Tokyo X 2026 returns to the Reliant Center on September 26 & 27, 2026, bringing together anime, gaming, traditional Japanese culture, food, fashion, music, automotive culture, cosplay and live entertainment for an action-packed weekend.

Now in its fourth year, Tokyo X continues to expand its mission of “Bringing a Piece of Japan” to Houston. The 2026 festival is expected to welcome more than 25,000 attendees and bring together more than 600 vendors, exhibitors, artists, cultural organizations and brands from Japan and the United States across more than 300,000 square feet of festival space.

A Weekend Dedicated to Japanese Culture

Tokyo X is designed to offer something for a wide range of interests. Anime and manga fans can explore cosplay, gaming, Gunpla and collectible experiences, while visitors interested in traditional culture can take part in activities such as tea ceremonies, calligraphy, origami, taiko and martial arts.

The official Tokyo X attractions page lists dozens of experiences throughout the festival, including a maid café, Mahjong, Japanese brush art, a gaming area, TCG tournaments, a Beyblade area, cosplay activities, fashion shows and cultural workshops.

The result is an event that blends different sides of Japanese culture rather than focusing on just one fandom or tradition.

One of Texas’ Largest Samurai Exhibits

One of the most anticipated additions for 2026 is the Tokyo X Samurai Exhibition, which will feature more than 1,000 authentic artifacts.

The collection is expected to include samurai armor, Japanese swords, ukiyo-e and other historic artwork, scrolls, weapons and cultural treasures. According to Tokyo X, the exhibit is being presented in partnership with organizations including Japanese Charm, Moon Rabbit Blades, Oku Stay and Yume Stay.

For visitors interested in Japanese history, the exhibition provides an opportunity to see authentic objects connected to Japan’s past while learning more about samurai culture and traditional Japanese art.

Anime and Voice-Acting Legends

Anime fans will have plenty to look forward to, with a large guest lineup featuring voice actors, actors, illustrators, performers, cosplayers and other industry personalities.

One of the biggest names on the 2026 guest list is Masako Nozawa, the legendary Japanese voice actor known for voicing Goku in Dragon Ball. Tokyo X lists Nozawa as a Guest of Honor.

Another featured Guest of Honor is Karen Fukuhara, known for roles including Katana in Suicide Squad and Kimiko Miyashiro in The Boys.

The 2026 lineup also includes Dante Basco, Dai Yoshihara, Japanese animation veterans Gen Sato and Hidetoshi Omori, along with numerous additional voice actors, illustrators, performers and cosplayers.

Cars, Drifting and Hot Import Nights

Japanese automotive culture will have a major presence at Tokyo X 2026 through Hot Import Nights and the expanded Tokyo X Car Show.

The event is expected to feature more than 100 show cars, with additional guests and automotive attractions. Tokyo X says the 2026 car show will be bigger than previous years, with more cars, special guests and automotive experiences.

Professional drifting will also be represented. Formula Drift champion Dai Yoshihara is scheduled to appear at the festival, with Tokyo X promoting a Drift Talk panel and fan meet-and-greet.

Food, Fashion and Japanese Pop Culture

Food is another major part of the Tokyo X experience. The festival will feature a Japanese Food Festival, along with food-related activities and competitions.

Fashion fans can check out the Japanese Fashion Show, while music and dance enthusiasts can experience the festival’s K-Pop and J-Pop Dance Championship and Idol Fest. The official attractions list also includes a fashion show, dance contest, maid café and other entertainment experiences.

For visitors who want to take home something from the festival, the large vendor and exhibitor presence will offer plenty of opportunities to browse Japanese-inspired merchandise, collectibles, art, fashion and other products.

Why Tokyo X 2026 Is Worth Checking Out

Whether you are an anime fan, a car enthusiast, a gamer, a cosplayer, a foodie, a history buff or simply interested in Japanese culture, Tokyo X 2026 offers an unusually broad mix of experiences.

The scale of this year’s festival is particularly notable, with more than 300,000 square feet of space, hundreds of vendors and exhibitors, major entertainment guests, a 1,000-plus-piece Samurai Exhibition, live music, automotive showcases, food, fashion and interactive cultural experiences.

Rather than presenting Japanese culture through a single theme, Tokyo X brings many different communities together under one roof. That makes the festival an opportunity to discover something new while also celebrating the parts of Japanese culture that fans already love.
