Photo Booths Around Houston

Houston is one of the most diverse cities in the world and is full of life along with many memory making activities to choose from. When going out with friends for a night on the town, grabbing a coffee on your daily walk, or visiting new spaces, it is always exciting to come across a photo booth in an establishment. In recent years, photo booths have grown in popularity to capture these moments either on your own or with the people you love and surround yourself with. Having these moments captured in film can enhance your experiences and will always be an aesthetic way to look back on sweet times.

There are many different types of photo booths and many of the ones in Houston are going to be your standard film and classic experience with an enclosed space for you and your friends. The process is simple and easy to understand for these booths. For the photo booths you pay with either cash or card, the countdown begins on screen, then you can pose and flash your pearly whites!

Axelrad

Starting with a casual beer garden in midtown Houston is Axelrad. Axelrad is a gathering place for the community, offering a variety of offerings such as beer, wine, drinks, Luigi’s pizza, live music, and a grove of hammocks. The venue is designed to celebrate Houston and provides a relaxing atmosphere for all visitors. The bar is housed within a historic building and features a mix of native and heirloom plants, making it a unique spot for social gatherings and events.

Axelrad has a photo booth in the interior section of the beer garden once you walk in towards the left-hand side. This photo booth has a cute teal exterior and is decorated with many former customers’ personal photo strips which encapsulate the comfort and enjoyment people have during their experience. There is the option for color or black and white, and personally I like the vibe a black and white photo strip holds compared to color.

The booth provides a 3-second countdown for four poses and is 7 dollars a strip.

Axelrad’s photo booth is a great option for casual photo ops and chill plans.

Betelgeuse Betelgeuse

Next up we have Betelgeuse Betelgeuse which is an eccentric cocktail bar and pizzeria that lies on Washington avenue in Houston’s historic Old Sixth Ward. The venue blends creativity and comfort, offering Ironclad-style pizzas made with house ingredients alongside inventive cocktails, local brews, and natural wines. Beyond the food and drinks, the space doubles as a social hub, has karaoke, and is ideal for every type of hangout. Betelgeuse Betelgeuse is immersive and filled head to toe with artwork.

Betelgeuse Betelgeuse has a photo booth located near the left-hand side in the middle room with the stage where karaoke takes place. It is a standard digital photo booth that is quick and easy to use. There are options for the strip to be in color or black and white, and as I previously mentioned, I think black and white gives that retro vibe and creates an aesthetic that can’t be beat.

The booth provides a 3-second countdown for three poses and is 7 dollars a strip.

Betelgeuse Betelgeuse’s photo booth is perfect for karaoke lovers who want a memento of their night.

FLATS Photo Lab

Lastly, we have FLATS Photo Lab in Houston, which is a highly regarded, artist-run photo lab known for its convenient, affordable, and community-focused approach to film developing and scanning. Located in Montrose, it offers a simple and user-friendly system, including a 24-hour drop box where customers can easily submit films and receive quick invoices, making the process seamless. Turnaround times are typically a few days but can extend to about a week or more during busy periods, with clear communication about expectations.

FLATS recently launched the first analog photo booth in Houston, which is an elevated way to capture images. The booth is located on the right-hand side of the interior of the establishment right by the welcome counter. The photo booth develops images without digital sensors or printers and gives the retro feel with authentic chemical-based photos. The other photo booths on this list use filters to emulate nostalgia, whereas FLATS creates the real deal.

The booth does not give a countdown but provides four poses and is 7 dollars a strip.

For guests looking to get the full photo booth experience with authenticity, this is the new spot in Houston to visit.
