Craft Pita Comes to West University
The Location
The West University location sits at the corner of Buffalo Speedway and Westpark, conveniently located near the Medical Center and Greenway area. The restaurant has an outdoor patio area perfect for the evenings. The indoor area is decorated elegantly with cozy seating and paintings that give a nod to the Mediterranean region. The dining room is well lit with plenty of space for larger parties.
The Food
You simply can’t go wrong with anything you order here. Chef Nasr’s focus is to bring fresh, locally sourced food to life. These principles are what he brings to the second location of Craft Pita by:
Partnering with local farmers, ranchers, and purveyors that share values.
Baked goods are sourced locally from bakers.
Premium proteins have been responsibly raised with no hormones, no antibiotics, and no animal byproducts in their feed.
Produce is grown locally by family farms and organizations that benefit the people in our community.
Olive oil is imported from Lebanon.
While there, we had Chef Nasr order us a variety of items that best showcased the range and more importantly the tastiness of the menu.
Mezze Sampler
Hummus, labneh, babaganoush, tabbouleh, turnips, pita bread, and pita chips
Our thoughts: A nice and lite appetizer to share with the table.
Lebanese Tacos
3 tacos with shredded rotisserie chicken, garlic aioli, pickles, fries inside the tacos, rice pilaf, hot sauce.
Our thoughts: Can’t go wrong with this especially to share as an appetizer. The hot sauces is a stand out – hot enough to get your attention, but not in an excessive over the top way. It is flavorful with influences from Texas and other inspirations Chef Nasr draws upon.
Shawarma Style Pita Sandwich Served with Baked Pita Chips
Shredded rotisserie chicken, garlic aioli, roasted potatoes, red cabbage, tomato, pickles, lettuce, parsley
Our thoughts: At first we questioned the roasted potatoes, but boy were we wrong. The combination of the potatoes, chicken, and garlic aioli sauce create a unique flavor that is memorable.
Rice Bowl
Lebanese rice (comes with beef) with chicken kabob. This entree includes tabbouleh, red cabbage, and pickled turnips.
Our thoughts: Staple Mediterranean dish that excels at the basics and leaves you wanting more.
