The Museum of Ice Cream: The Sweetest Party in Austin

There’s no place in Austin quite as sweet as the Museum of Ice Cream. This interactive exhibit allows you to experience ice cream like you never have before, with as many sweet treats as you want and 12 different ways to experience flavor.

In honor of SXSW, they’re launching an all new Night at the Museum party. This party has games, boozy sweets, and a Sundae of the Month, concocted by a celebrity chef. The first guest is Chef Jam Sanichat of Thai Fresh and Gati, who performed a live demo of how to make a fresh Thai Ice Cream Dog.

She began with a quick tutorial on how to make homemade ice cream, and how just about anyone could do it with the right tools and ingredients. The ice cream flavors were Thai Coffee and Chocolate Ice Cream, and she explained that her secret was a big pinch of salt to really bring out the sweetness of the flavors.

Next came the assembly of the Thai Ice Cream Dog. She took a hot dog bun and packed on a layer of sweet sticky rice, and then three scoops of ice cream. Chef Jam then spread a generous layer of Texas Pecan Praline Sauce; the perfect balance of salty, crunchy, and sweet. Finally, she topped it off with Spicy Candied Pecans to give it a final kick.

While rice, ice cream, and pecans sounds like a strange combination, the flavors and textures were all a perfect match. There’s a surprising balance to every element that makes it such a unique treat for anyone to enjoy.

After the live demo, guests were welcome to explore the rest of the interactive exhibits where they could experience ice cream and fun. There were games like Tic Tac Toe, Whack A Mole, and basketball. There were also giant Animal Cracker cookies to ride on and a huge sprinkle pit to dive into. Along the way, there were stops for sweet treats like Mochi and ice cream– with the option to add some booze to make it an adult party.

Those are just a few highlights from the 12 multi-sensory installations. You can be a part of the fun by going to the Museum of Ice Cream’s website to purchase your tickets to the sweetest party in Austin. Don’t forget to stop by the gift shop on the way out to bring a treat home to your friends and family!
