Cosmic Coffee is tucked behind the bustling crowd that fills the streets of South Congress Avenue. From the chicken coop to the line of food trailers, this hidden gem really encapsulates the character of Austin, Texas. This ideal location has free Wi-Fi (just ask for the password) and an expanse of outdoor tables on their patio, each over six feet apart.

Vendors like Le Roy and Lewis Barbeque, Pueblo Viejo, and Tommy Want Wingy line the far side of the patio offering unique options for brain fuel.

Whether your studies bring you to this eclectic spot for morning classes or for a late-night cram session, Cosmic’s drink offerings cater to both crowds. They offer a variety of hot and iced tea and coffee drinks. Additionally, the coffee shop also operates as a full bar. Cosmic Coffee has many delicious signature cocktails like the Boozy Coffee (pictured) and the El Diablo, a frozen margarita infused with Loganberry for a fruity twist and bright pink color.  This outdoor café and bar serves as a quirky spot to grad a drink or a bite to eat and study.

Mueller Farmer’s Market

Mueller’s Farmers Market brings together small businesses and vendors in one location every Sunday from 10am – 2pm. Vendors set up in the serene Mueller Market District complete with a fountain pond and an expanse of grassy hills to set up a blanket and study.

While you’re there be sure to walk through the blocks of vendors, selling dumplings, tacos, barbeque, produce, grass-fed beef and fresh fish amongst other handcrafted items. Some particular favorites are SoCo Ginger beer. They make a variety of flavored ginger beers like blueberry and hibiscus. Also, Gourmet Texas Pasta makes handmade pastas in every shape and flavor like black pepper parmesan linguini. They also offer many varieties of gluten-free pastas as well. It is recommended to walk through the market before settling down and getting to work.

The Little Darlin’

The Little Darlin’ is a funky bar and restaurant with an expansive patio complete with corn-hole, fire pits, and arcade games. They provide Wi-Fi, and you can even bring your dog!

In the evenings, the place is buzzing with energy, but during the day it offers a quiet place to sit down, get some work done, while enjoying offerings from their extensive beer-list, full bar and kitchen. What makes this place unique is the relaxed outdoor atmosphere, but also the food. Their Fried Chicken Sandwich is a classic favorite. Also, the ceviche served with lavash crackers is a perfect well-balanced and refreshing dish.

They have a rotating list of beers on tap with usually over 20 different selections of craft beers, written on a chalkboard behind the bar. Additionally, they have a rotating frozen cocktail. They have crafted blends like Strawberry Watermelon Agua-Fresca and Pineapple Mango, with your choice of alcohol. Ultimately, The Little Darlin’ offers a relaxed space to work, with the option of enjoying a bite to eat and a drink.

Radio Coffee & Beer

Radio Coffee & Beer is a South Austin staple, but also a relaxing environment to get studying. They have a large indoor seating area with spaced out seating to ensure the safety of their patrons. They also have an outdoor patio where you can bring your drinks and check out the food trailers that are lining the lot.  

For a quieter experience, mid-day on weekdays tend to be the slowest. Mornings are usually packed with people lining up to get Vera Cruz tacos, a food trailer parked by their patio. There are two other food trailers, Dee Dee which offers northeastern Thai street-food and Dat Boot Po’boys.

Radio Coffee & Beer has a wide variety of hot and cold teas and coffees. Also, they have a through selection of wines and beers. Their cocktail list sticks to the classics, but they have a full selection of spirits to mix any drink.
