Oh K-Dog – Korean Street Style Corn Dogs in Austin
In Austin, nestled in a shopping center off Airport Road where many other local favorites reside such as Kura and 101 by Teahaus is Oh K-Dog, a restaurant specializing in Korean style street corndogs. These corn dogs have quickly become a popular street snack in Korea. Oh K-Dog is a national mini-chain with locations all over Texas, New York, and Arkansas. The location on Airport Road opened in March, the first one is located inside H-Mart.
The Food
With the unique spin on traditional corn dogs, Oh K-Dog is sharing a piece of Korean food culture with Austin. The main difference between these corn dogs and a traditional one is that the batter is made with rice instead of corn. They’re served up drizzled in sauces like ketchup, mustard, sweet chili, and gochu sauce. You can even have some with a sprinkle of sugar and cinnamon.
Another item on their menu that’s worth trying is their egg toasts. They have a teriyaki, ham and cheese, and an avocado one. I tried the ham and cheese egg toast, and it was a perfect snack that can be eaten for breakfast or lunch. The toast is thick and fluffy, stuffed with ham, cheese, and egg, and drizzled with mayonnaise on top.

The egg toast was light and savory and despite the thick slices of brioche bread, was not so filling, which I was glad for, so I could order more. I also ordered the Potato Hot Dog, which was so good drizzled with some ketchup. Mixed in with the fried batter were diced potatoes. The corn dog itself looked like it would be filling, but it was surprisingly light and not greasy at all.
Some of the corn dogs come served with mozzarella cheese instead of meat. They have a Mozza Dog and a Potato Mozza Dog which are part of their vegetarian options. For those wanting to have both, Oh K-Dog also has a Half-Mozza & Half Hot Dog, which encompasses best of both worlds.

Oh K-Dog serves Stubborn Soda as well as a selection of caffeinated beverages like coffee, lattes, mochas and americanos. They also have Thai Tea and Brown Sugar Milk Tea.
The Environment
Oh K-Dog has a medium-sized seating area with multiple tables set up for dine-in customers. All along the walls were several TV’s playing music videos from the biggest female K-Pop groups. The music was all upbeat songs, which kept the environment fun and friendly. All their staff members were really kind as well.
I watched as the store quickly filled up from about five people to 30 in less than an hour, with most people ordering two corn dogs per person. Oh K-Dog is the perfect spot for families or groups of friends who are wanting to try something new and fun.
