Here’s a quick list of 8 of our favorite vendors at the Texas Farmers’ Market at Mueller!
SimpliThai: Thai Cooking Kits
Who doesn’t love Thai food? These simple-to-follow cooking kits from SimpliThai are perfect for a date night or just dinner on a random Tuesday night! SimpliThai includes all the ingredients you need to make an at-home Thai meal except for protein, so each kit is completely customizable to your dietary needs! Their recipes include Yellow Curry, Kao Soi, Pad Kee Mao, and other Thai classics!
Texas Black Gold Garlic
Black garlic is the result of a month-long caramelization of white garlic bulbs, which turns the garlic (you guessed it) black. The cloves that are left are sweet, spreadable, and ready to be eaten straight from the bulb. It tastes like the lovechild of garlic and balsamic. Texas Black Gold Garlic sells an array of products at TFM, like bagged cloves, black garlic purée, and even black garlic supplements that capitalize on black garlic’s health benefits! You have to try black garlic out for yourself.
Johnson’s Backyard Garden
Without fail, Johnson’s Backyard Garden always has the longest line at TFM, and for good reason. Johnson’s Backyard Garden is a traditional produce vendor with a focus on producing a diverse variety of the highest quality vegetables, fruits, and herbs with over 200 different crops on their farm. You can sign up for their Community Supported Agriculture program on their website to receive a weekly or bi-weekly delivery of seasonal vegetables, or you can just see what you can get your hands on at the market!
Teddy V. Patisserie
Teddy V. is a very special kind of farmers’ market bakery; they only sell ⅓ lb chocolate chip cookies. You heard that right — ⅓ lb. Their chocolate chip cookies are beautiful, thick, and stuffed to the brim with delicious chocolate. You really can’t go wrong with these guys. Check them out at the market or snag a coveted spot on their Friday deliveries through their website.
Smith & Smith Farms
Smith & Smith is another farmers’ market classic type vendor, specializing in eggs, chicken, lamb, and other meat. They’re a small family-operated farm in Rogers and Burlington that raises Dorper Lambs, different breeds of laying hens, Cornish Rock meat chickens, and other animals! The entire farm is free-range, which is amazing! Pro tip: get to their booth as soon as you get to the market, their eggs sell out fast.
Steamies Dumplings
This family-owned dumpling stand is beyond delicious. If you haven’t been to their permanent store on Airport, you at least have to try out their stand at TFM. They sell prepared potstickers if you’re a sip and stroll type, or they have frozen packages if you want to savor the deliciousness at a later date. They have pork, chicken, and veggie dumplings available, as well as weekly specials! Stop by to have a little lunch break before continuing your shopping!
Talisman Coffee Co.
El Talisman is this family-owned coffee company’s thirty-fire-acre coffee farm in the mountains of Nicaragua. After each year’s annual coffee harvest, the beans are shipped to Austin where they are locally roasted. They offer four different roasts – light, medium, blend, and dark, as well as a cold brew! If you’re in the mood for a cup of Joe while walking around TFM, they also offer drip coffee and french-press coffee!
Luv Fats Ice Cream
Let’s round out this list with a little dessert. Luv Fats is the dairy-free ice cream, whether you’re dairy-free or not. Their mission is to celebrate healthy fats by using avocados and coconut milk to create a beautiful base for delicious and unique flavors like Caramel Rosemary, Sourdough Toast and Peach Jam, and Yellow Watermelon Sorbet. Homemade by creator Chi Ndika, a pint of Luv Fats is a must-have!
