14 Best Coffee Shops in Austin

Madison Esmailbeigi | March 2, 2023

It is in so many of our morning routines to wake up, get ready for our day, and drink coffee. Drinking a cup of coffee in the morning is so intertwined with our lives. The best part about it though is that this muscle memory task can be whatever we want it to be. It can be a drive-thru on the way to work or a time to catch up with an old friend.

My favorite time to drink coffee is Saturday morning, when you can relax and unwind with the whole weekend ahead of you. Luckily, Austin has the best coffee shops that let customers sit back, relax, and enjoy a nice cup of joe.

3 – Civil Goat Coffee

Civil Goat, which opened in 2010, is a unique coffee shop to visit because, if you’re lucky, the cafe will be getting a visit from Butters, the owner’s goat! Owner Chris O’Brien keeps Butters as a pet and lets Butters join him on his visits to Civil Goat. When visiting the cafe, I highly recommend getting an oat milk latte. Civil Goat also makes delicious acai bowls, like the El Cosmico, and breakfast sandwiches, like the Cuerny Sam.

I highly recommend the shop’s mochas, such as Pride and Prejudice, with a blend of sweet chocolate powder and sauces, as well as Oliver Twist, with twisted sweet chocolate and caramel sauces. All mochas are topped with Bennu’s homemade whipped cream. Continually, Bennu offers personal French press service as well as fresh brewed iced teas.

6 – Lucky Lab Coffee Co

Lucky Lab Coffee has four locations around Austin. Their belief that “good people, happy dogs, and a great cup of coffee makes the world a better place” really shows within their menu and customer service. As I am a frequent visitor of Lucky Lab’s Guadalupe location, the Longhorn Brulee is a must-have. Another reason I go to spend mornings at Lucky Lab is to try their seasonal menu items. Currently, their spring menu includes a Strawberry Basil Lemonade that is delicious.
