About 85C

85ºC Bakery Cafe is no ordinary cafe, with its handcrafted drinks and over 50 different freshly baked pastries. There is no question on why this chain is on my list of the best desserts in Austin. Their namesake comes from the idea that the perfect temperature to brew espresso coffee is 85ºC. For the bakery, their name is a symbol of their devotion to serving coffee, bread, and cakes of the utmost quality to each and every guest.

The story of how 85ºC Bakery Cafe came to be, started when the founder Mr. Cheng-Hsueh Wu visited a cafe in a five-star hotel. While eating his pastries and sipping on his drink he felt that the prices were set way too high for people to enjoy on a whim. At that moment he got the idea for 85ºC Bakery Cafe. In 2008 the first 85ºC opened in Irvine CA. Today, the company has over 1,000 locations worldwide.

At 85ºC bakery Austin, there is an array of choices of bread, pastries, and drinks on their menu. When it comes to bread you can’t go wrong with 85ºC’s Brioche. This Japanese-style bread is soft, moist, and rich with buttery and milky taste. Another fan favorite is the Marble Taro which has to be the most beautiful loaf of bread you have ever seen, not to mention how delicious it is. The marble Taro is a sweet bread made with mixed grains and filled with their signature taro filling.
